What is the Alcohol on Beaches Pilot Program?

Since Vancouver Patio Season is here, the Alcohol on Beaches pilot program grants beachgoers the opportunity to enjoy alcoholic beverages at select beaches across the city. Between the hours of 11 am and 9 pm, adults over the age of 19 can indulge responsibly in their favorite drinks while soaking up the sun and sea breeze.

Which Beaches Are Included?

From June 1st to September 30th, participants can partake in the program at the following picturesque locations:

  1. Jericho Beach
  2. Spanish Banks
  3. Locarno Beach
  4. Second Beach (Stanley Park)
  5. Kitsilano Beach
  6. John Hendry / Trout Lake Beach
  7. New Brighton Beach

Vancouver Patio Season: Enhanced Safety Measures

In response to previous incidents of disorderly behavior and increased garbage levels at certain beach sites, the revised program incorporates additional measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all. The City Council has allocated resources, including additional Vancouver Police Department (VPD) members and Park Rangers, to oversee the implementation of the program and maintain orderliness.

While the Alcohol on Beaches pilot program extends to several beaches, it’s important to note that certain locations remain off-limits for alcohol consumption. These include:
